MPEG 5.1 soundtrack
Hi All,
Just yesterday I popped in my copy of Dark City and there was no audio. I though perhaps I pressed a button my accident on my reciever but I didn't (i've done that before). After a few tests I found out that it was because the DVD was playing the MPEG 5.1 soundtrack. I never noticed this one before, so I switched to DD and all was well. What is the point of MPEG 5.1? Is it better/same/worse than DD/DTS? Should I care that my setup dosn't seem to play it? (Perhaps I have an incorrect setting that I could check but should I care?). DVD player: Pioneer 355 Receiver: Sony STR-DE-545 thanks

There's a reason why they don't use MPEG encoded Audio Tracks on DVD's anymore.... Because they Suck.
![]() I have only heard a couple and I remember there being a synching problem with one or both.... |
